HILLSBOROUGH, N.C., January 29, 2010—Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation is offering rising high school seniors the opportunity to represent the Cooperative on a week’s expense-paid trip to the nation’s capital June 12-18, 2010.
Students selected for the Youth Tour will have the opportunity to experience government in action.
The trip takes students to Washington, DC, where they will see the White House, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, the Smithsonian, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, the Washington Monument and a host of other memorable sites.
North Carolina’s delegation of about 40 Youth Tourists will travel by chartered bus from Raleigh to Washington where they will join young people from across the United States in the annual event.
To apply to represent Piedmont Electric on the tour, submit an application and an essay of 200 words or less on the topic: “Describe a Rural Electric Cooperative.”
Please prepare the essay in typed double-spaced form. Applications and essays are due April 30, 2010.
